 oogle Summer of Code is a program that allows open-source beginners to con
 tribute to the development of open-source projects\, mentored by participa
 ting organizations.\nParticle physics is an exciting field where large col
 laborations of scientists collect and analyze petabytes of data from high-
 energy physics experiments\, such as those at the Large Hadron Collider\, 
 hosted at the CERN laboratory in Geneva\, Switzerland. Some of the questio
 ns that we collectively ask are:\n\nWhat are the fundamental blocks that m
 ake up our Universe?\nWhat is the nature of dark matter and dark energy?\n
 What is the nature of the asymmetry between matter and antimatter?\nWhat w
 as early Universe like?\n\nTo answer these questions\, particle physicists
  build software to simulate and analyze what happens in particle physics d
 etectors.\nThe CERN software for experiments (CERN EP-SFT) group has parti
 cipated in the GSoC since 2011. Since 2017 the program has expanded to inv
 olve the high-energy physics community under the umbrella of the HSF (HEP
  Software Foundation).\nThis year\, we will hold the HSF/GSoC Training Ori
 entation on May 11 with two main goals:\n\n\nProvide context for HEP compu
 ting and how GSoC participants' work fits into the bigger picture\n\nProvi
 de pointers to the resources and events available through HSF Training\n\n
  \nThis event is open to all interns at CERN.\nThe workshop times are in
